The term “a gossip” for a group of mermaids is a whimsical and playful choice that likely stems from the traditional association of mermaids with storytelling, rumour-spreading, and the sharing of secrets. In folklore, mermaids are often depicted as enchanting, social creatures who engage with sailors and other beings, often leading to tales filled with intrigue and mystery
Alongside this will run a collaborative piece in the gallery, created & emerging throughout the week, with visitors to the exhibition invited to join in the process.
